Mig Wire

Can you get the wire stuck in MIG welding?
as in stuck in the metal, like what happens commonly in stick/arc welding
Yes this does happen with GMAW (MIG) welding. I do agree with the above. But, I believe that this does happen in more than just the short-circuit mode of metal transfer. I have had the electrode stick on me (at the end of the weld) in axial spray, as well as globular. This may have something to do with the wire feeder response time, considering there should be no short during these modes of metal transfer. Another thing that I don’t necessarily agree with is the brief re-arc to detach the electrode, this could result in cold lap which could trap harmful non-metallic inclusions. I would suggest on more crucial welds that the electrode be cut as close to the weld as possible then grind off if acceptable by code.If not grind and re-weld.
