is production mig welidng considered a skilled trade or general labor?
are there a lot of mig welding jobs in texas??? i CAN STICK, MIG, AND FLUX CORE BUT NOT HELIARC COMMONLY KNOWN AS TIG
Interesting question. You could put a person who has never welded before in his life in a production welding environment welding with jigs.
Mig welding with welding jigs is a monkeys game, you are just a human robot. So in my opinion to answer your question “is production mig welding considered a skilled trade or general labour” in that situation any fool could do it one they have done a few hours jig welding work.
But it really depends on who you work for. I quite often see jobs in the paper looking for a general hand/labourer who can use a lathe, mow the grass, do plumbing and do welding etc.
It really is a skilled trade or profession but in some instances the employee may not require the higer skilled workers. ie if they are just making box trailers, why do you need a certificate to say that you can weld 6Gpipe, underwater and pressure vessel welding??? sorta thing.
All depends on what you want to do.
As to welding jobs in Texas, I dunno. I’m from The land down under.
