I have a 1993 Subaru Legacy wagon Question.?
I am wondering what the technical name is for the bushing/bearing/joint that connects the lower control arm to the wheel spindle. Mine is worn out badly and is making quite alot of noise. Have garage and tools. Just wondering how bad the job is to replace it. Ordered a manual for the car, but wondering if anyone has any suggestions.
Start spraying penetrating oil now. Get hammers, new curse words and extra time. Not a technically difficult job, but it has been sitting there since 1993, your hardest part will be getting stuff apart. From your description it sounds like “lower ball joint”. You may have better luck (or no choice) to change the entire control arm. _____ I just checked lower ball joint, $65.00, you need some kind of ball joint press, vice. Not easy to do without. Upper control arm is between $100-$300, easy to replace
